Commodity Futures Trading Commission

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is the authority responsible for overseeing trading in futures for oil, precious metals and other commodities. It also regulates trading in derivatives on stock indexes and bonds. It was established by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Act of 1974.
